There is a growing interest in chastity both for men and for women. Altairboy’s Chastity website is one of the best known sites around, and includes fiction, product reviews and other information. Sadie's Chastity Resources
Sadie: I find the idea of chastity fascinating because it's about control of one of the most elemental parts of our sexual identity - our ability to orgasm. What is the fascination for you? Altairboy: "The idea of NOT being able to achieve an orgasm whenever I want, odd as it may seem is very exciting to me. Because, I know eventually I will be able to have one, when the chastity belt comes off. The anticipation and the enforced wait makes it even better when it does come." Sadie: What kind of chastity belt do you wear? What is the longest period you've worn your belt? Altairboy: "Over the years, I have acquired a number of belts and devices. My first belt was made by William Jones, and that is the one that I wore the longest. 43 days continuously, without a break. I also have had a Goethals, Access Denied, and a Latowski. I have also worn, the CB2000, and the Curve, as well as a BirdCage and a CockCuff. Presently, I am awaiting a NeoSteel belt." Sadie: What is your favorite chastity device and why? Altairboy: "My favorite changes from time to time. I tend to prefer those that are a good balance of security and wearability. By that I mean, something that can be worn more than a few hours at a stretch. Due to my weight gain since getting my first belt, I have moved away from full belts and played more often with the plastic CURVE and CB2000 devices. Even though I can easily escape from them, they are comfortable enough to wear for several days in a row. However, I have ordered a NeoSteel belt, and hope that it will be both secure and comfortable enough to wear for extended periods of time." Sadie: I just gotta know. How do you escape from the CB2000 and curve devices? They looked pretty secure to me... Altairboy: "This link shows some photos: http://www.tpe.com/~altarboy/not91026.htm Sadie: Do you connect your interest in chastity primarily with your sexuality, or does it also have to do with control in other aspects? Altairboy: "I associate chastity with sexuality. I've always enjoyed a bit of genital bondage. Chastity belts and devices are the ultimate form of genital bondage." Sadie: What are the most common sexual fantasies around chastity belts? How would you describe the ‘flavor’ of most of the fiction that is posted on your website? Do you get more submissions from men or women? Altairboy: "A very common fantasy involves getting locked up, and being forced to perform sexual favors, without getting any sexual relief in exchange. Humiliation often is part of the fantasy, where the person locked is made to serve friends or strangers while naked except for their chastity device. Being tormented by the keyholder for days, weeks or months on end, and never quite being given release. Generally, the flavor is consensual, or experimental, temporary chastity games. The vast majority of fiction submitted to my site is written by men." Sadie: Can you explain how the "keyholder" works with a chastity belt? What has been your experience with your keyholder? Altairboy: "Keyholder is the term given to the person that holds the key to your chastity device. That person is given the key with the understanding the device will be unlocked at some unknown future date. The conditions that gain release can be negotiated in advance, or in exchange for some form of service (sexual favors or mundane things like housekeeping chores.) My wife is what I call a reluctant keyholder. She does not initiate any belted sessions, but will agree to hold a key when asked. When someone is holding the key to your chastity device, you have given up control of your ability to achieve sexual gratification whenever you want it." Sadie: If a person doesn't have a keyholder, what are some of the things you'd suggest to work around this problem? Altairboy: "Whether or not you have a keyholder, there should be a spare key available in case of an emergency. That way if the primary key gets lost, you have an escape route. That spare key should be sealed in plastic, or in an envelope or something so that your keyholder will know it has been used. "If you don't have a keyholder, you can leave the key at work over the weekend, ship it to yourself by mail, or put it in a safe deposit box overnight or a weekend. Some inventive people have built electronically lockable storage boxes that are controlled by a computer or countdown timer. Others have found keyholders on the internet that agree to hold a key for a period of time and mail it back to you." Sadie: How did you came to have an interest in this area? Altairboy: "Shortly after I gained access to the internet back in 1996, I stumbled across erotic fiction, and along the way, read some things that involved enforced male chastity using chastity belts. It did not take long for me to imagine myself wearing a chastity belt, and began researching. I was frustrated because there were very few genuine sources of information. Having learned how ‘easy’ it is to compose web pages, I thought, why not create a private website so I could review what I had found. Soon thereafter, I decided to share and made a public website." Sadie: Would you describe yourself as being in the BDSM lifestyle, or are chastity belts more of a singular fetish interest for you? Altairboy: "I am not in the lifestyle, it is something that is of intense interest. I have explored some varieties of bondage, and acquired a few things for my toybox, but Chastity belts are my primary fetish interest." Sadie: If someone is interested in purchasing a belt, what kinds of questions should they be thinking about before they go shopping? Altairboy: "Stainless steel chastity belts are not cheap. And the risk that it won't work, or fit properly is significant. They are sex toys, and the budget should be a primary consideration. Do the research, learn as much as you can by reading product reviews, asking questions of people that actually use them, and then try to decide which kind to buy. Chastity belts and devices can be a wonderful addition to your toybox, especially if you have a partner that will enjoy the games." Sadie: Chastity belts for men, especially the CB-2000, are easy to use and very hygienic. In contrast, because women get their periods, chastity belts can be a real problem. Fantasy aside, what are the practical realities of wearing these belts long term? Altairboy: "The human body is flexible, and during our daily activities, we move around a lot. Different devices and designs are more or less restrictive to those movements. A full metal belt limits your ability to bend over to pick up something or tie your shoes. A tightly fitting waist belt, can cause sores to develop where the band rubs against the skin. The crotch shield will catch some urine spray, and can develop a nasty odor quickly. Belts with ass chains some times get in the way and you will need an immediate shower to clean up the mess. Belts and devices really should be removed often enough to really clean the genitals and prevent fungal infections from growing. And finally, the reality is that a chastity belt will usually prevent conventional intercourse. Chastity belts are less successful in preventing orgasm. The desire for orgasm is a very powerful incentive for one to find a way to achieve one." Sadie: What would you recommend to women who would like to experience a chastity belt, but cannot wear one full time because of physical issues (for example they don't work well with plus-sized women) or because they work out regularly, or wear revealing clothing? What are some other options that you recommend? Altairboy: " I really don't have any suggestions." Sadie: I've read that the historical use of chastity belts during the crusades when men were away waging war are actually untrue, as women wouldn't have been able to survive for so many months in a chastity belt. From your research, what is the real history of these belts? When did they start being designed for men as well? Do you know of any websites that have a complete history of chastity belts? Altairboy: "The only known and generally accepted ‘authority’ on chastity belt history was authored by Eric Dingwall, in The Girdle of Chastity, published in 1931. See http://www.tpe.com/~altarboy/girdle.htm Sadie: You are a married man, but I understand that your wife isn't particularly interested in this aspect of your sexuality. What kind of agreements have you worked out so that you can explore this? Altairboy: "My wife is very tolerant of my kink as long as I don't force it on her. She understands my interest, and approves of my website activity as long as I don't let other people play with what she considers, ‘her toy.’" Sadie: You maintain a well-known website which is fairly unique in that it focuses on the chastity experience. Can you tell me a little bit about what your website has to offer in terms of information and fiction? Altairboy: "My website is one of the very few places that you can study photos, read actual product reviews, and learn about chastity devices. I have had many people write to me and express their thanks for providing the resource. You can also just visit, and let your imagination run wherever you want. There is a lot of people that just visit to read." Sadie: Is there anything else you'd like to share with our readers? Altairboy: "I would like to thank the thousands of people that visit and contribute to my website. What I have accomplished would be impossible without the assistance of all those writers and the feedback from visitors. I read every e-mail I get, and appreciate the time it takes to jot down a simple thank you. There is always room for new submittals, product reviews, original photographs, and real life experiences. Sadie: Thank you for speaking with me! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sensuous
