Why I waste my Time taking Kinky
Photos of Barbie

It all started last year when I got a pair of these fabulous black
leather boots, which just happened to match the boots that my Barbie
doll was wearing. It's not that I play with dolls per se, but I've
always enjoyed having her nearby, shining blond hair twisted about in
pseudo dreadlocks. The obvious thing to do was to take photos of
"Mistress Barbie" atop the boots and so I did. I knew it would
be as well received as the pictures of "Barbie's Dungeon" that
proliferate on the internet.
The cool thing is that my Barbie photos – no matter how wild they get
– are always recognizably Barbie herself. The result is that there is
no threat to the viewer in the way that erotic photography of real
people sometimes does. Barbie Kink is safe and funny, allowing enjoyment
without the emotional baggage of porn. Knowing Barbie has no pussy, we
can suspend our fears about HIV and other unpleasant realities. I even
send these photos to my vanilla friends who find them wildly
entertaining, the same vanilla friends who might not be so entertained
if I sent erotic photographs of real people being hogtied or spanked.
Those Barbie boots must have affected my DNA because since then I've
done no less than four Barbie photo shoots, each one showing
progressively more "skin." Having worked with both live and
doll models, I can say that Barbie is a far more agreeable talent. She
shows up on time, never breaks a sweat, and can hold any position no
matter how bizarre. Barbie always looks fabulous and after the shoot the
only aftercare required is to airbrush in sweet pink nipples. The
downside of course is that she's a bit stiff, and has just one
expression: cheery.
Despite these limitations, my goal was to take art photographs, not
snapshots; something that expressed grace, elegance and emotion.
Contrast this to most doll photos where dominance and submission are
expressed by having one doll with a flogger in hand and another tied up.
To me that's a diorama, not art, one in which the "doll-ness"
is immutable. I wanted to move the viewer, perhaps almost as much as
photography of real people. As a result, I've had to learn how to
express dominance or submission using mostly lighting and angles, no
easy trick.
I didn't start out with such a lofty agenda, but I can't help but
appreciate what this art form can offer us who live in a fringe
community. Anything that can take the message of joy and acceptance in
all sexual choices to the masses is a very good thing. And so, under
that aegis I'm off to make a wee-sized singletail for the Mistress B.
